Open Night 2016

Late last term, we had Open Night. Mrs Kaiko took photos of us playing games, and watching our book trailers with our families. Mr Mack and Mrs Kaiko set up some games for us to play. We enjoyed having fun with our families and friends.

Lurking in the Shadows

In Science, we learned about shadows. The shadows move in the opposite way to the Sun. When the sun moves during the day, the shadows move. When you stand in a shadow, you can’t see your own shadow.

Experimenting with Radishes in Science

IMG_2437In Science, we have been investigating the growth of radishes. We changed the amount of water we gave our plants. We kept the sunlight, soil, containers, and seeds the same. Our radishes received a lot of tender love and care!

So far, we have learned about variables, and how to conduct a science experiment. We also learned how to follow written instructions when we planted our seeds. It took several weeks for our seeds to grow.

Our radishes are still alive!

Our Harmony Day Assembly!

For our Harmony Day assembly, the Year 3 classes performed “One People, One Land” by Monica Brown. We were celebrating the fact that everyone belongs in our Australian community, and acknowledging our diversity.

Reconciliation Retreat

JPEG image-7C81B7F29077-1Today both Year 3 classes joined to participate in a Reconciliation retreat, run by Sister Catherine. The retreat is another step on our journey to receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Term 3. In the pictures, we are acting out passages from the Bible including: The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 25-37); Jesus and Zacchaeus (Luke 19: 1-10) and The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32). Acting the passages out helped us to gain a better understanding of Jesus’ love for us and how He shared a message of forgiveness. We reflected on our choices, and thought of ways to ensure that we continue to make choices that are good and right for us.

We would like to send a special thank you to Sister Catherine for organising and running the retreat.

3B First Day of School

What a fantastic group of children we have in 3B.  This should be a super year!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After all the formalities of having each child individually photographed.  It was time to have fun as a class.  We managed to get some natural shots of them goofing around with their friends.
