Term Four has been full of action for everyone in Drama classes. The Pre-Primary children have enjoyed participating in role-play activities, a whole class improvisation, a Dance Drama, and creating scenes in small groups. The Year Ones and Twos continued preparations for and then performed in their Junior Music & Drama End of Year Concert.
The Pre-Primary children participated in a Dance Drama where they were all clowns, travelling the countryside in a train, and performing for the people and the Queen. One role-play activity involved the children in washing an elephant, whilst a structured whole class improvisation saw them pretending to be Caterpillars encountering a spider in the garden. The children also worked in small groups creating short scenes, with teacher direction, which some then performed for the class.
~~~~~ YEAR ONE & YEAR TWO MUSICALS 2015 ~~~~~
The Year One and Two children worked hard to polish their individual plays for the End of Year Music & Drama Concert. Each year had a successful Dress Rehearsal, with an audience, in Week 3 of the term. On Thursday evening the 12th November, the Year One children performed “Beneath the Sea” & the Year Two children presented “The Lost Sandcastle”. The audience were captivated and very entertained. The look of excitement & supreme effort on the children’s faces during the performance and their satisfaction and joy after, was a sight to be cherished! Well Done children! The fantastic set and costumes were due to the hard efforts of volunteer mothers in each year and were appreciated by everyone.
Last Thursday Year 4 and 5 students had a fun morning of “having a go” on some Brass Instruments. Thank you to Iona College Instrumental teachers who visited the primary school and facilitated the process.
