During the term the Pre-Primary children have been enjoying being involved in various creative movement activities and role-playing different characters. They have continued acting out characters and ideas from several books and have also participated in a whole class structured improvisation where they were puppies. In the photos below, the children can be seen portraying scarecrows in a field, Acting Out a book called “Scaly-tailed Possum and Echidna” and role-playing being “Lost in the Desert”.
The Year One children have been developing their performance and team working skills. Forming pairs, they created, rehearsed then performed a short structured scene set in a boat. The children also found out about the musical play they will be performing towards the end of the year. After a reading of the play, they expressed their interest in playing individual characters. Here some of the children can be seen rehearsing and performing their scene for the class.
The Year Two children have also been developing their team working and performance skills with creation, rehearsal and performance of a short scene set in the forest. In addition, the children have been working on their characterization skills as well as learning about plot structure and development. They also expressed their interest in playing individual characters for their own end of year musical play. The children can be seen here creating and performing their scenes.
