Junior Drama Term Four 2016 Blog No. 1

The beginning of Term Four has been full of action for everyone in Drama classes. The PP’s have been enjoying participating in role-play activities, a Dance Drama and creating scenes in small groups. The Year Ones and Twos are continuing preparations for their Junior Music & Drama End of Year Concert.

PRE-PRIMARY

The Pre-Primaries participated in a Dance Drama where they were all clowns, travelling the countryside in a train, and performing for the people and the Queen. They have also learnt a poem about an elephant as well as being involved in a role-play activity about one. Another role-play involved them getting their parents agreement in going to the circus. They are currently working in small groups creating a short scene and then performing it for their peers.

~~~~~   YEAR ONE & YEAR TWO MUSICALS 2016 ~~~~~
The Year One and Two children are working hard to polish their individual plays for the End of Year Music & Drama Concert on Thursday evening the 10th November. The Year One children will be performing “The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe”, whilst the Year Two children will be presenting “Cinderella”. Each year had a successful Dress Rehearsal, with an audience, in Week 3 of the term. It was a great way for the children to build up confidence for their upcoming performance.
Iona’s Got Talent 2016
At the end of term 3, Iona primary students showcased their gifts and talents by performing to their peers, parents and friends of the community. It was an entertaining afternoon of solo and group performances that included various instrumentalists, dancers and vocalists. We were privileged to hear a father and daughter team who performed a beautiful folk ballad that melted our hearts. Our Cultural Captains with their team of year 6 leaders stage managed the event with expertise. The audience were also invited to have a few “brain breaks” which included dancing the “Marcarena” and singing “I Knew You Were Treble”! It was an terrific musical afternoon. Congratulations to all our performers. ionas-got-talent-2016-no1untitled
